News and Events
After a brief summer hiatus, Compassion and Choices Chicago is happy to announce two events planned for September, one on each side of the City.
On THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 at 3:00 p.m., C & C Chicago Coordinator Bess Schenkier will make a presentation at the Lower Level Conference Room at MONTGOMERY PLACE, 5550 SOUTH SHORE DRIVE, CHICAGO, IL. Bess, an attorney, a long-time hospice volunteer and the coordinator of C & C Chicago since September 2012, will speak about the current status of end-of-life choice in Illinois and how that compares with other states. We will also discuss what C & C Chicago can and should do to further support end-of-life choice in Illinois. All are welcome to this FREE event; however, non-residents need to RSVP in advance to assure entry to Montgomery Place. Please contact Bess at firstname.lastname@example.org or 312- 566-7451.
On SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 at 2:00 p.m., Compassion and Choice Community Relations Director Roland Halpern will speak at the MALLINCKRODT CENTER, 1041A RIDGE ROAD, WILMETTE, IL. Roland will be meeting with a small group of C & C supporters Sunday morning to assist in our organizing efforts. [Please let Bess know if you are interested in joining our organizing group at her home at 11:00 a.m.] The afternoon presentation at Mallinckrodt will offer insights to those new to Compassion and Choices as well as to long-time supporters on what C & C is doing around the nation to support, educate and advocate on behalf of end-of-life choice. We will also discuss the outlook for regulatory or statutory changes in Illinois to support end-of-life decision-making and to expand out choices at the end of life. This event is FREE. No RSVP is required, but it’s always helpful to know how many people to expect! Contact Bess at email@example.com or leave a message at 312-566-7451 with any comments or questions about this event.
I look forward to meeting with our supporters at one or both of these upcoming events.
